Medicare Insurance Plans We Accept
Medicare insurance plans accepted by UChicago Medicine AdventHealth include:
- Traditional Medicare and most Medicare Supplement plans (Medigap)
- The following Medicare Advantage plans:
- Aetna Medicare
- BlueCross and BlueShield of Illinois Medicare
- Essence Healthcare Medicare
- Humana Medicare
Dual-Eligible patients (patients who have both Medicaid and Medicare coverage) can select Traditional Medicare or a Medicare Advantage Plan (with Medicaid secondary) or select a Medicare Advantage Fully Integrated Dual-Eligible (FIDE) Special Needs Plan (FIDE-SNP).
UChicago Medicine AdventHealth participates in the following FIDE plans:
- Aetna Medicare FIDE (HMO D-SNP)
- Humana Dual Fully Integrated (HMO D-SNP)
Medicare insurance plans that UChicago Medicine AdventHealth will no longer be in-network with as of January 1, 2027:
- AARP Medicare Advantage plans through UnitedHealthcare
- HealthSpring Medicare Advantage plans
- UnitedHealthcare Medicare Advantage plans (individual and group retiree)
Important: If your current Medicare health plan is not listed above or is a plan that will no longer include UChicago Medicine AdventHealth in its network starting January 1, 2027, please review the resources on this webpage to find plans that provide full in-network access to UChicago Medicine AdventHealth. If your plan is not in-network for UChicago Medicine AdventHealth, non-emergency care will be referred to an in-network provider; exceptions may be requested if services are not available within your health plan’s network.
Please know that if you do not actively choose a Medicare plan during the Medicare Annual Open Enrollment Period, you will automatically stay under your existing Medicare plan.
Key Medicare Dates
Medicare Open Enrollment (October 15 Through December 7)
Change your Medicare coverage for the following year, with new coverage starting January 1.
Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment (January 1 Through March 31)
Switch Medicare Advantage plans or return to Original Medicare. You can't change prescription drug plans during this period.
If you do not actively choose a Medicare plan during the Medicare Annual Open Enrollment Period, you will automatically stay under your existing Medicare plan.
