Our UChicago Medicine AdventHealth Wound Care Center is located on the UChicago Medicine AdventHealth La Grange hospital campus, making wound care more accessible in Chicago’s western suburbs.

We work with each patient to find the treatments and services that fit their unique needs, helping them heal chronic wounds and prevent wound recurrence.

While participating in our program, patients remain in their primary care physician’s care. Referring physicians are updated with ongoing progress reports, and our team will provide recommendations to additional specialists when applicable.

We offer treatment options for a variety of wounds that result from multiple conditions, including:

Some wounds need more oxygen to heal so we offer hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT). HBOT is a painless, proven treatment that works in concert with other wound care treatments. It works by supplying the body with a high dose of oxygen which reduces wound swelling, improves immune system function and builds new blood vessels, ultimately resulting in faster and more robust wound healing.

During HBOT, you enter a hyperbaric chamber to breathe in 100% oxygen under increased atmospheric pressure.

HBOT is an effective option for:

• Diabetic foot ulcers
• Radiation injuries
• Chronic bone infections
• Preparation and preservation of compromised skin grafts and flaps

We’ll work with you one-on-one to understand your wound and determine whether HBOT is a good fit for you.

Along with HBOT, our wound healing care plans include specific services like:

You may be asked to visit our wound center regularly for specialized treatments so that we can document your healing progress. We will also instruct you on how to care for your wound at home to protect against further injury.
